So I filled up my RHEL 6 hard drive this weekend and didn’t clean it up before shutting it down.

ERROR:

Upon booting up I received this error, “Install problem! The configuration defaults for GNOME Power Manager have not been installed correctly. Please contact your computer administrator.”

SOLUTION:

  1. On Login Screen, press Control + Alt + F2
  2. Login as root or sudo
  3. Remove some files or folders
  4. Check the permissions on your /tmp folder or just set them to: sudo chmod 0777 /tmp
  5. Execute the command: reboot

Hope this helps someone else along the ways.

The steps above have nothing to do with the authentication so that shouldn’t have done that. Per chance did you did you execute any other commands?
